The goal of this project was to redesign a space to be inclusive and welcoming to all. Lola's Coffee Shop was a perfect location. It is located in downtown Cincinnati near a trendy area that holds a lot of events throughout the year and is accessible through public transportation. I wanted something that was visually beautiful and well thought out but beyond that I did a lot of research in learning how to cater a space to those with disabilities, specifically the blind. I learned how texture can be used to guide and that was the main focus of my design. The space creates a clear path and includes braille in every detail even the coffee cups. I believe we should be giving more attention to those with disabilities and designers are responsible for considering that in their work.
