How to make your photoshoot intentional

Behind the Scenes of My First Nat Marie Design Photoshoot

A huge thank you to Rethlyn Photography for capturing my very first studio photoshoot for Nat Marie Design. This was completely outside of my comfort zone, but she made it feel effortless — and the result truly reflects both me and the brand.

Planning with Intention

Going into the shoot, I obsessed over the details (in the best way). Every choice was guided by one question: how do I want my brand to feel?

I curated outfits that tied back to my color palette, brought in props from my office to recreate my workspace, and incorporated tools I actually use in my process — from sketchbooks to my iPad. These subtle details matter; they’re what make your visuals feel aligned and intentional.

Choosing the Right Space

The location sets the tone. For this shoot, I chose Studio 125 in San Antonio — a space that felt casual, creative, and warm. The playful wallpaper and greenery gave it the perfect balance of artistic and approachable, which reflects the voice of Nat Marie Design.

When you’re selecting a photoshoot space, think about your audience and your brand personality. The textures, furniture, and overall vibe should feel like an extension of your brand.

Outfits & Props

I styled three looks, each representing a different side of the brand:

  1. Neutral & casual – approachable and relaxed.

  2. Playful pop of color – fun and true to my personal style.

  3. Dressed-up in brand blue – polished, confident, and professional.

I also packed a bag full of props that made the shoot personal: items from my desk setup, my dream journal, my favorite good-luck charm, even a photo of my husband. Recreating my workspace in the studio made the photos feel authentic and true to how I work every day.

Takeaway

If you’re planning a photoshoot, my advice is simple: make it personal, make it intentional, and make it yours. The more your photos reflect your brand and your story, the more powerful they become.

I’m so grateful for this experience — and excited to continue documenting the journey of Nat Marie Design in ways that feel authentic, elevated, and full of heart.
